"Dark Waters" Screening with Rooney Mara for Environmental Working Group

RAD partnered with FOCUS FEATURES and PARTICIPANT MEDIA to co-host a Screening with Purpose with RONNEY MARA for “Dark Waters” to benefit ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING GROUP (EWG), a legislative advocacy organization that promotes healthy and sustainable policies.

We created an opportunity to celebrate the cause-driven film’s narrative and filmmaking process and also to advocate for the work EWG is doing for our nation’s health and well-being.

Directed by TODD HAYNES, the film tells the real-life story of Robert Bilott's legal case against the chemical manufacturing corporation, DuPont, after they contaminated a town with unregulated chemicals. It stars MARK RUFFALO as Bilott, the attorney who brought justice to the community affected by the dangers of the company’s environmental failures. It is based on the 2016 New York Times Magazine article "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare" by Nathaniel Rich.

RAD invited EWG’s Founder and President, KEN COOK, to Los Angeles to moderate a discussion with Todd and Mark about the film and consumer health advocacy, which followed the screening for our RAD-curated audience of tastemakers and academy voters.

Guests then joined RAD, Rooney Mara, Todd Hanes, Mark Ruffalo and Joaquin Phoenix for an intimate celebration at SoHo House.
