RAD at EMMYS to Get Out The Vote with Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote
The Emmy Awards were the first major awards show since the global pandemic and thus a momentous occasion for the entertainment and fashion communities to come together by using the event’s spotlight and talent’s individual platforms to get out the vote for the 2020 elections!
RAD partnered with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote on a fundraising and advocacy campaign that gave Emmy Award nominees, stylists and designers an opportunity to stand together in honoring their professional accomplishments while also giving back.
Our Fundraising Campaign was a RAD Auction of looks worn to the Emmys on Chic-Relief.com with 100% of sales benefitting When We All Vote.
Emmy Award nominees Kerry Washington, Mahershala Ali, Tracee Ellis Ross, Mark Ruffalo, Laverne Cox, Rachel Brosnahan, Uzo Aduba, Nicholas Braun, Issa Rae and Samira Wiley were all RAD at EMMYS and donated their looks to the RAD Auction, in partnership with the designers they wore, which included Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, Alexandre Vauthier, Christy Rilling and Paul Smith among others.
Our Advocacy Campaign gave nominees and other RAD friends an activation from When We All Vote to register to vote or check voter registration status. It was shared and amplified by all our partners on social media on Tuesday 22nd, National Voter Registration Day. We distributed ‘VOTE’ masks, which were made exclusively for this campaign by For Days (100% organic cotton and sustainably made in Los Angeles) to Emmy nominees as well as talent and stylists not associated with the event, to maximize impact and inclusivity. Jimmy Kimmel, Mahershala Ali and Elizabeth Banks wore them and posted our activation to get out the vote.
RAD Stylists Elizabeth Stewart, Karla Welch, Law Roach, Jill & Jordan, Cristina Ehrlich, Wayman & Micah and Elizabeth Saltzman were also RAD by joining our campaign.
