National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month

In 2021, we continue to fight for human rights and give a voice to those without. 📣 This month is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month and we want to highlight the importance ending a horrific crime that affects so many worldwide. Slavery and human trafficking are one of the fastest growing crimes in the world, denying freedom to millions. We cannot continue to live in a world where lives are traded, sold, exploited, abused and ruined. We CAN BE the change.⠀
⠀
In case you were wondering...⠀
➡️ Slavery and human trafficking are the illegal movements of people, typically for the purpose of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation.⠀
➡️ Internationally there are between 20-40 million people in modern slavery today with 20% of them being children.⠀
➡️ Due to COVID-19, 2/3 of anti-trafficking workers reported seeing an increase in online recruitment.⠀
➡️ Worldwide an estimated 71% of enslaved people are women and girls, while men and boys account for 29%⠀
➡️ On average, US teens enter the sex trade from ages 12 to 14 with an estimated 60% from the foster system.⠀
➡️ Human trafficking earns global profits of roughly $150 billion a year for traffickers.⠀
